(Part 2) The True Darkness Of Atheism

satan
Satan’s goal for you is the total destruction of your faith in Jesus Christ

Below is another quote by an atheist that shows what they really hate and what they want to destroy. If this quote doesn’t reveal Satan in their lives then nothing will. Like I said in Part 1, this fight is not against atheists but against what’s behind them, the principalities of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). There is a full-blown attack on the Bible and the only way that a Christian can get defeated is if they stray from the Truth found in Holy Scripture. Folks, these quotes are demonic in nature and the enemy has to destroy your trust in the Bible to destroy your faith in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:11

And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; instead, expose them.

Bruce Gerencser the atheist said:

When I say, “expect me and other outspoken atheists to marginalize, denigrate, and intellectually destroy the Bible”, I mean that the Bible is the problem and it must be destroyed in order for Evangelicals to see the light of reason. This is why I always encourage Evangelicals to read books written by Bart Ehrman. While people can certainly remain Christian after reading Ehrman’s books, they can’t honestly hold on to the notions that the Bible is an inspired, inerrant, infallible book. Once inerrancy, infallibility, and Bible literalism are shown to be unsustainable intellectually, then Evangelicals are free to explore the world that exists outside of the Evangelical box.

Since the beginning of creation, Satan’s first attack was on God’s Word which is the only way to defeat the individual’s faith in the LORD as seen in Genesis 3:1-5 which says, “Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit from the trees of the garden; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You will not eat of it, nor will you touch it, or else you will die.’ ” 4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 For God knows that on the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

In verse 1, the word subtle means in Hebrew crafty or prudent in a negative way. Satan uses these atheists with argumentations for Christians as to destroy one’s faith in the Bible with bizarre interpretations and twisting of scripture to trip the Christian’s walk with the Lord. The Word of God is our shield and refuge of protection as seen in Psalm 119:114 which says, “You are my hiding place and my shield, I hope in Your word.” Satan has to take you away from relying on God’s Word to kill your faith, that’s the only thing that keeps him from bringing on you huge damage. He cannot get through God’s shield which protects you unless you leave from its protection and that’s what Satan wants to accomplish through these atheists.

We continue in verse 1 where the serpent questions God’s Word to Eve and says, “Has God said, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?” The devil is trying to make you think in a negative way about the Bible through these atheists by planting a seed of doubt which unchecked will cause you massive problems. You must quickly throw it out before it takes root in your heart and spring forth rejection of Jesus Christ like what happened to Bruce Gerencser who apostatized and now is being used by the devil to do to others what has been done to him.

In verses 2-3, Eve responded with limited understanding on God’s command because it seems like she has added to what God had previously told Adam, not to eat from the tree in the midst of the garden but never did He say or touch it meaning the fruit. We don’t know if this addition came from Adam as to make sure to keep his wife Eve far away from the forbidden tree or she came up with it herself. That’s why it is imperative to know the scriptures very well, like the phrase that gets quoted often which is, “God helps those who help themselves.” Folks, that’s not found in the whole Bible but that doesn’t stop people from quoting it like they are quoting legitimate Bible verses thinking that they are. That is the danger of not reading or studying God’s Word because it will bite you in the end when a deceiving demon knocks on your door through false religion.

The atheist that I quoted, his purpose in life apart from his personal life is to destroy the Word of God. Every time you see or meet an atheist or someone from a false religion, they only have one goal for you since they serve the devil’s will and purposes unknowingly, to get you away from believing in the Bible so that they (evil spirits) can take you away from Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:26

and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

We must resist such attacks by putting on the full armor of God.

  1. Somewhere, some wanderer has not yet reached the point of no return. These atheists may think they’re demolishing you but God is using them to give traffic to your site so that that particular confused individual may find something they have struggled with actually being addressed. Thank God for that.

The Word does not return void. We look forward to the day when all is said and done. They can convince themselves that day will never come but deep down, it gnaws. Their only coping mechanism to that fact is to show the world the beauty of their viciousness. Sad.

  2. I do hope that people may come to my site and read the verses that I have put so that they may come to know the Truth, Jesus Christ and get saved. Atheism is a cancer to the human soul but Jesus is the cure for that disease.

  3. God has said, ‘You will not eat of it, nor will you touch it, or else you will die.’ ”
And they ate of it, yet they did not die, and the Bible was in error, and God lied unto them. 😯

  4. You are in error because you don’t know the scriptures.

    1 Peter 1:9
because you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

They died instantly spiritually and physically they started to die. Their relationship with the Lord was severed the moment they ate the fruit and death entered their spirit and they were lost because now they had sin which is death for their spirit (separation from God). Remember, when God told them that they would die, He was referring first of all to the man’s spirit because sin affects the soul of men that’s why Jesus died for our sins so that when we die physically our spirit will be saved and be in the presence of the Lord.

Afterwards in the resurrection our bodies will be transformed. As you can see the one that takes affect immediately is men’s spirit or soul and the body follows suit.

  5. Hey Archon, just wondering which translation of the Bible you use. Check out this verse from Genesis 5:5 –

And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

Of course the pertinent part is the last three words. Are you reading somewhere that Adam lived to be immortal? Obviously God did not strike Adam and Eve dead immediately, but their decision set them on a course not just towards physical death but spiritual death as well. So, in all honesty I’d like to know exactly where God lied in this area of Scripture.

  6. Hey my name is Randy and I lived as an atheist for 32 years of my life. I’m a pastor now (been a follower of Christ since 2002). I hung around Bruce’s blog for awhile until he finally asked me not to come back. I questioned him about having a personal vendetta against Christianity and never attacking Islam. I also accused him of being just as intolerant and judgmental towards Christians as he claimed they were to him. Boom – he asked me to hit the virtual highway.

Bruce stands beside the works of Ehrman like they are Scripture. I love Bart Ehrman and have read most of his books. He’s a great New Testament scholar but has some serious flaws in his conclusions. He is an agnostic but still has a personal vendetta against Christianity like Bruce. His goal is to undermine the Bible’s authenticity.

Atheism has changed since I claimed that name. I was a live and let live guy. Now, the radical, militant atheists, like Bruce, have become the majority. They are not happy just to choose unbelief, they actively try to draw others to their beliefs (atheist evangelism?) and want to strip all freedom from Christianity in the public area of life. They will tell you they don’t hate God because they don’t believe in him. This may be true to some extent, not being conscious hate, but their actions clearly express hate towards God and his people.

I appreciate your blogging. Keep up the good work.

  7. Great testimony formeratheist, I agree with everything you said which was brilliant. The force behind atheism is Satan who are using them to draw people away from a salvation relationship with Jesus Christ. I would like to read your testimony, do you have it on your blog?

  8. I have been around Bruce’s blog and he has posted whatmIkbe said. I find most atheists to be hostile and twist whatever you say. The goal appears to be to shut Christians up. He says he doesn’t want to hear Scripture and if you post Scripture anyway, you are rude and inconsiderate. They can’t get we’re talking about eternity here. It’s sad that Bruce feels the need to try and destroy Christianity but I can assure him, that is absolutely impossible.

  9. Amen, Vicki. I have tried to talk to Bruce in the past but to no avail. All you can do is present the Gospel and ask the Holy Spirit to convict him of his sins. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a great comment.

Scroll down and you’ll see where he quotes me and there’s a place at the top where you can click on comments for responses. Well, you’ve been to his blog. I wasn’t about to use his blank checklist form to say what I felt I should because that, to me, is just a mockery of Christians. So basically if a Christian goes there and says anything, we’re rude and inconsiderate because we’ve been basically asked not to speak. After all, he knows it all and has heard it all. Sad.

  12. Notice in comments how they put words in your mouth and twist what you say? Like I’m really gleeful about what will happen to Bruce when he takes his last breath. You know I’m am not any such thing. I just know the truth of the future of those who die outside of Christ. It’s tragic but atheists will make fun of any concern you say you have for them.

  14. Sorry to keep posting but found an atheist blog of someone influenced by Bruce Gerencser.
    https://lutherwasnotbornagaincom.wordpress.com/
Seems to be a nice guy but read those Ehrman books which destroyed his belief. I will never read those books. Of course, I don’t believe this man was ever Christian, just as I believe Bruce never was. He is definitely influencing some into full v,own atheism.

  15. Just read his post, very sad indeed. I grow up in a home where my family did Santeria. It is like Voodo. I used to see demons walking in my house. I am previlaged to have seen the spiritual war that we as Christians face. No Atheist can ever say that the super natural doesn’t exist because my own eyes has seen it. God’s Word is the truth and everything written in it.

  17. Tried to share a link with Mr. Gerencser from a blog where the person had things in common with Mr. G and similarities yet came to a different conclusion that Mr. G and all he could say was I broke the comment policy rules. The Christian blogger recognized something that many don’t, that you can live a Christian lifestyle and not be Christian. I guess we’re supposed to take the word of those who claim they were once Christian over what God says about it. I don’t know why I keep attempting to reason with atheists except I sometimes feel compelled. I have doubts as to whether Mr. G even read the testimony.

  18. Yes….I’m just sad for atheists plus have a desire that God’s truth be vindicated before them…..but won’t happen in this life for many of them.

  19. Well, I personally don’t think Dr. Ehrman’s books really have the ability to destroy anyone’s faith in Jesus Christ.
If this were the case, pretty much every person studying at a more progressive seminary planning for ministry would end up as an atheist. I think it’s all much deeper and more complex than this. Setting aside a debate concerning the inerrancy of the Bible, there are tons of Christian believers who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord who can also be quite liberal in their view and interpretation of the Scripture. I feel at the bottom of it all is choice more than anything else.
I feel like this political stuff is also more nuanced as well. There are well-known atheists who are also quite conservative/libertarian in their political views, and evangelicals who are politically progressive. This is, even more, the case in other countries such as W. Europe or Australia. My husband and I are considering doing short-term mission work in the UK. One organization that we’re considering appears quite conservative theologically, so I’m not sure that I would even be accepted, although, I think my husband would be fine.
But, imagine my surprise when I learned that the founder of this is an avowed socialist. This should be interesting. 🙂
Our Lord bless and enrich your life in every way.

  20. Thank you for your comment.

There are only two types of Christians, a false one, who leans more liberal, showing a lack of wisdom and knowledge of the Truth. A liberal Christian denies the inerrancy of Scripture, denies Jesus’ miracles, etc. And the other is a conservative Christian who takes the Bible for what it says, letting the Scripture interpret itself to get the complete meaning of any given passage.

The organization that you guys are going to is very clear false, and if the founder is a socialist, it tells me that those people belong to Satan. Just like Satan when he planted Judas in Jesus’ circle to disrupt His ministry. To call yourself a socialist and a Christian at the same time is what you call an oxymoron.

You guys are in danger, and if you, Becky, are more liberal in your Christianity, that tells me that you are very confused and really need to read the Scriptures daily and study it. Pray to the Lord for understanding.

  21. Hi, Spaniard, sorry about my delay in responding. The weekend was busy. Well, I can only share my own experience here.

Most of the folks I’ve known who are Christian believers who are democratic socialists or very progressive politically feel like that this economic system is the best vehicle to help the poor and needy and compatible with the way of Jesus. I feel like they are generally very well-meaning and sincere in this.

But, from my perspective, while I do agree that we need a basic social safety net and ways to combat things such as monopolies and crony capitalism, I feel like free markets are actually a better way to generate wealth and to provide opportunities to lift people from poverty. It seems to me that socialism ultimately leads to an entitlement mentality, and also limits freedom. We can work to provide equality of opportunity, but when we attempt to guarantee equality of results liberty and individual initiative will suffer, IMO.

I would not ultimately think though that people who are socialists belong to Satan. I just think they are misguided in this area.

I feel like the Scripture does contain and reflect the word of God. It’s not at all to be taken lightly and is an authority for the faith and practice of the church. But, to say that it is inerrant and always to be interpreted in a literal way seems a step too far for me.

To me, people are Christians through faith (trust) in Jesus Christ alone. I could not discern if someone was a Christian believer just based on their belief related to the inerrancy of the Bible. On the other hand, I would agree with you, I’m sure, that someone could not be a Christian believer who rejected something like the reality of the incarnation or the resurrection of the Lord.

Spaniard, I appreciate your concern and zeal for the gospel. I’m sure we will not come to a complete agreement through conversation on the blog. But, we can trust God to work in both our lives. This verse of Scripture speaks to me. ” He who began a good work in you will complete it to the day of Jesus Christ.”

God bless you brother. We can hold each other in prayer.

  22. You said, “But, to say that it is inerrant and always to be interpreted in a literal way seems a step too far for me.”

Proverbs 30:5, “Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.”

I think that you have a misconception of what a Christian is, what we stand for, and what it means to love the Word of God.

Psalm 119:97, “Oh, how I love Your law! All day long it is my meditation.”

Jesus Christ and the Scriptures are two sides of the same coin. If you love Jesus, you will automatically love His Word. His Word describes, who God is, what He wants us to do, and how to live for Him.

Becky, you need to reassess your commitment to the Scriptures and your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. If you don’t believe in the inerrancy of the Scriptures, then what type of faith do you truly have? Your faith, without you knowing it, could be dead. You need to get on your knees and ask Jesus to reveal His perfect Word to you that it has no errors. Many people, when they face Jesus, thinking that they are a Christian, will become aware very quickly that they were never one when Jesus rejects them.

Matthew 7:21-23, “21 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’
