2 Chronicles 33:6
6 He passed his sons through the fire in the Valley of Hinnom. He practiced witchcraft, divination, and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did a great deal of evil in the Lord’s sight, provoking Him.
Anything that’s associated with the occult (witchcraft) can be included in the following:
- New Age-A religion that seeks spirituality apart from the Word of God
- Ouija Board-A board game that conjures up spirits
- Magic 8 ball fortune teller-A toy to get life’s answers
- Tarot Cards-To know the future
- Palm Reading-To know about yourself
- Praying to the dead-Catholicism
- Astrology a.k.a Horoscope-Tells you, your “daily forecast”
If you have done either of these know that you have tapped into the demonic forces and have done a great evil in the sight of the Lord.
- Have you ever done any of the ones mentioned on the list?
- How did you come to know that what you were doing was against God’s Word?
Yup… “was” guilty of 1, 6 and 7.
I came to know what I was doing was against the Lord after I got saved and started reading His Word- truly vital here, especially for new believers.

Salvation is sure the first step in leaving those dark practices. I like what Psalms 119:105 says, Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.
God’s Word reveals what’s hidden in the darkness of one’s life and exposes it.
Thanks for your comment.

All of the above have repulsed me since I first came to Christ… having grown up in a large city where occult practices were very common, I quickly recognized the occult in these areas and thus, have wished to steer clear of these since coming to faith… It is difficult to watch others that I meet dabble in those things, however. I pray a lot. Thanks for directly addressing this!

It seems that God exposed you early to those things to detect Satan’s tactics. There are some baby Christians that not being aware of it are doing some of those things on the list, thinking that it is harmless. Thank you for Your comment Lynn

This is a very informative post, SpaniardVIII. All of these go against God and anyone who practices it (either unknowingly or knowingly) is going against God.
I do have a question: What is New Age? I’ve heard of the other ones, but not this one.

Hello Joshua, that is a great question. New Age began back in the 70’s as a spiritual religion which includes some on my list and some that are not mentioned. Basically, New Age Religion is a softer name than that of witchcraft. Nonetheless, it is witchcraft because the word witchcraft is the umbrella of all things referring to spirituality apart from God and His Word. So New Age falls under witchcraft because it seeks spiritual entities.
