Verse By Verse Through Revelation (5:6-10)

6 Then I saw One like a slaughtered lamb standing between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth.

“slaughtered lamb” is in reference to Jesus’ death on the cross for the sins of the world.

“Seven horns” and “seven eyes” all mean the same thing, the Holy Spirit. Horns in scripture refer to strength and the seven eyes are in reference to His omnipresence.

7 He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of the One seated on the throne.

Jesus walked towards the Father and took the scroll which the Father has given the Son all authority.

8 When He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

After Jesus took the scroll, all those in God’s throne fell down and worshiped the Lamb Jesus Christ who is worthy of praise because He is God.

In verses 10-11 of chapter 4 in the Book of Revelation you see the living creatures (Seraphim) and the 24 elders worshipping the One seated on the throne which is God the Father. Now, in turn, they worship Jesus revealing that Jesus is God, the second person of the Godhead.

The prayers of all Christians are referred to as incense showing that God takes pleasure when we pray and seek His face. Just like incense permeates the dwelling where it’s lit so also our prayers reach the very throne of the Living God.

9 And they sang a new song:
You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because You were slaughtered,
and You redeemed people
for God by Your blood
from every tribe and language
and people and nation.

Those who are present in the throne of God sang a new song to Jesus Christ praising Him for what He did for humanity on the cross. The cross was a big deal in heaven because it shows not only to us here on earth but also to the angels in heaven that God is love. Those who love Him He will never abandon just like the angels who didn’t rebel against God in heaven with Satan (He has kept safe in heaven).

10 You made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on the earth.

“You made them a kingdom and priests to our God” mean that all Christians are ordained to bring offerings to the Lord that are acceptable to Him because we have the Spirit of the Living God living inside of us who teaches us how to please God.
